Testing the Collisionless Nature of Dark Matter with the Radial Acceleration Relation in Galaxy Clusters

چکیده
Abstract The radial acceleration relation (RAR) represents a tight empirical between the inferred total and baryonic centripetal accelerations, g tot = GM (< r )/ 2 bar , observed in galaxies galaxy clusters. correlation these two quantities can provide insight into nature of dark matter. Here we use BAHAMAS, state-of-the-art suite cosmological hydrodynamical simulations, to characterize RAR cluster-scale halos for both cold collisionless matter (CDM) self-interacting (SIDM) models. SIDM generally have reduced central densities, which reduces region when compared with CDM. We compare RARs clusters simulated different models from CLASH observations. Our comparison shows that CDM model provides an excellent match obtained by Tian et al. including high-acceleration regime probed brightest cluster (BCGs). By contrast, larger cross section yield increasingly poorer matches RAR. Excluding BCG regions results weaker but still competitive constraint on section. Using data outside < 100 kpc region, σ / m 0.3 cm −1 is disfavored at 3.8 level respect model. This study demonstrates power testing

Shallow dark matter cusps in galaxy clusters
We study the evolution of the stellar and dark matter components in a galaxy cluster of 1015 M from z = 3 to the present epoch using the high-resolution collisionless simulations of Ruszkowski & Springel. At z = 3 the dominant progenitor haloes were populated with spherical model galaxies with and without accounting for adiabatic contraction. We apply a weighting scheme which allows us to chang...
متن کاملArc Statistics in Triaxial Dark Matter Halos: Testing the Collisionless Cold Dark Matter Paradigm
Statistics of lensed arcs in clusters of galaxies serve as a powerful probe of both the non-sphericity and the inner slope of dark matter halos. We develop a semi-analytic method to compute the number of arcs in triaxial dark matter halos. This combines the lensing cross section from the Monte Carlo ray-tracing simulations, and the probability distribution function (PDF) of the axis ratios eval...
متن کاملThe nongravitational interactions of dark matter in colliding galaxy clusters.
Collisions between galaxy clusters provide a test of the nongravitational forces acting on dark matter. Dark matter's lack of deceleration in the "bullet cluster" collision constrained its self-interaction cross section σ(DM)/m < 1.25 square centimeters per gram (cm(2)/g) [68% confidence limit (CL)] (σ(DM), self-interaction cross section; m, unit mass of dark matter) for long-ranged forces. Dwarf Galaxies in 2010: Revealing Galaxy Formation’s Threshold and Testing the Nature of Dark Matter
Over the past five years, searches in Sloan Digital Sky Survey data have more than doubled the number of known dwarf satellite galaxies of the Milky Way, and have revealed a population of ultra-faint galaxies with luminosities smaller than typical globular clusters, L ∼ 1000 L . These systems are the faintest, most dark matter dominated, and most metal poor galaxies in the universe. Completenes...
